Selected Social Determinants of Health for New Jersey

6.9% percent of New Jersey residents lack health insurance (Kaiser, 2022). According to the USDA Economic Research Service (ERS), the average per capita income for New Jersey residents in 2021 was $77,016. Based on 2021 ACS data, ERS reports that the state-wide poverty rate is 10.2% and 9.5% of the population has not completed high school (ERS report, 2017-2021 ACS data). The unemployment rate in New Jersey is 3.7% (USDA-ERS, 2022).
