Purpose

Rural Opportunities in Medical Education (ROME) is a 20-28 week interdisciplinary experience in a rural primary care setting, open to Phase 2 students at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Students will live and train in non-metropolitan communities under the supervision of family medicine physician preceptors. Students will also work with board-certified surgeons, internists, pediatricians, and other specialists available in the community.

Rotation sites in North Dakota and Minnesota include:

  • Benson
  • Devils Lake
  • Dickinson
  • Hettinger
  • Jamestown
  • Ortonville
Eligibility

Phase 2 students at UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences are eligible to apply.
