The Faculty Loan Repayment Program (FLRP) offers loan repayment to individuals from economically and environmentally disadvantaged backgrounds who agree to serve as faculty at eligible health professions schools for a minimum of 2 years.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens from disadvantaged backgrounds with an employment commitment as a faculty member at an approved health professions institution for a minimum of two years.
Eligible disciplines include:
- Allopathic medicine
- Osteopathic medicine
- Podiatric medicine
- Veterinary medicine
- Dentistry
- Pharmacy
- Optometry
- Nursing (Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse)
- Public health (graduate level)
- Physician assistant
- Behavioral and mental health (graduate level) including clinical psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, and professional counseling
- Allied health professions (baccalaureate or graduate level) including audiology, dental hygiene, medical laboratory technology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, radiology technology, registered dietitians, respiratory therapy, and speech pathology
The program pays up to $40,000 of the participant's student loans over 2 years.
Employing institutions must match the award 1:1 with cash funds, unless the employer has been approved for a match waiver.
